Our HumanLight / Solstice celebration was held on Saturday the 21st in Durham, CT.   We had 32 Secular Humanists, Atheists, Freethinkers, Skeptics and at least a few theists in attendance. We collected quite a bit of non-perishable donations for the local food bank and had readings from Bill Bryson’s “A Short History of Nearly Everything” and Carl Sagan’s “Pale Blue Dot”.

Coming on Saturday December 7th, beginning at 5:00, our annual celebration of Humanism, Freethought, Atheism,  Secularism, and all things and people associated with the movement toward the free mind..

Like last year, it will be a potluck, at the social hall of the Clearwater Unitarian Universalists2470 Nursery Road, Clearwater.  Sponsored by the Coalition of Reason and graciously hosted by our UU Humanist friends.

It will start around 5 pm and go to around 7, and will be delicious!  A brief entertainment will be provided by the Chantiers. The company (over 125 last year) needless to say, will be fantastic.

To celebrate HumanLight, we’ll be enjoying a mix of the serious and jovial in anticipation of the cloudy months ahead. For the potluck, you are reminded to bring enough food to serve four.  We also ask for a simple donation of non-perishables for the food pantry.
This year’s program will include candle lighting, wassail and a few short readings.  And Scott Thompson will offer some Humanist song lyrics, both serious and funny, with our own pianist Perry Perkins for a sing-along.
